QTT64

QTT64

Converting UNIX to ASCII CR/LF

QTT64 (qtt64v2.sfx) is a freeware utility for the C64. It performs translations on ASCII text files. No translations are done on PETSCII files.

This is a simple program that converts between the three types of ASCII text files. The CR/LF type is the standard in the MS-DOS world, and is widely supported in C64 word processors and text editors. The LF only type is common on UNIX & Amiga created files. The CR only type is the standard on Mac text files.

Translations of ASCII files into PETSCII are also supported. This was done to allow the conversion of large ASCII files so they can be read with any C64 file viewer that reads PETSCII files directly from disk. The translation of PETSCII files into ASCII is not supported, because the saving of ASCII files is widely supported by C64 text
editors.

...

Major additions in features in V2:

  • support of CR only ASCII files
  • detection of source file type
  • translation into PETSCII

QTT64 should work with all existing hardware. Additional functions related to processing text files on the C64 are planned.

John F Halloran is the author of this program and can be reached at: jfh@gyral.com or jhalloran@delphi.com.

John welcomes feedback on the program, and plans to add improvements and new features to it - but would like to get feedback from users - if you can think of any needed features/improvements, please let John know your
thoughts.

I believe a program of this nature is one that has been needed by the Commodore world for some time now as there really hasn't been a small stand-alone program to handle this job. It's not always the big programs that make a difference in our computing lives. Little utilities can be a godsend. We hope you enjoy this one.
